Marisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My family had a jewelry business that I played an integral role in for many years. Once I had children, I opted to focus solely on them for about four years before getting back into the business. I knew I no longer wanted to pursue a role in retail because the hours are extremely demanding, often requiring me to stay late into the evening and work weekends. My husband and I decided to look into franchising opportunities and found Showhomes – a home staging business that offered the flexible hours I required to raise my children with the creative design aspect I was hoping to find in my new venture.
Our business has been extremely successful because we have the ability to cater to our client’s needs. We offer a unique home manager program which requires qualified individuals to live in one of our staged homes, committing to take care of it while it’s on the market. We also provide staging-only options where individuals can essentially rent our luxury furniture if they’ve already moved out or are in the process of moving. Both of these services help buyers visualize themselves in a home, something many buyers have problems doing if a space is empty.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I first opened my Showhomes location eight years ago, we didn’t offer the wide variety of services that we offer today. Opening up our options to our clientele has given us the opportunity to serve them better. Now we offer everything from the home manager staging program to makeovers of owner-occupied properties to staging – helping position our customers to close on a sale quickly.

Showhomes of Coral Gables is a luxury home staging company. We offer home manager staging, home staging and home makeovers all of which aim to position a home to sell faster. Our most unique program is probably our home manager program, which matches high-end vacant homes for sale with people who have beautiful furniture, artwork, accessories, and need temporary housing. We essentially provide a live-in professional caretaker to watch your home while keeping it in show to sell condition.
We’ve been in business longer than the majority of our competitors and offer staging from small condo space to multi-million dollar properties. Our pride comes from building meaningful relationships with our customers and with local realtors – the majority of our business now comes from referrals.
